She has spent her 12 years in practice specialising in all aspects of franchising from advising franchisees who are looking to buy a franchise to helping businesses franchise their business and assisting both franchisees and franchisors with terminations/exits and dispute management.

Amy began her career in a niche commercial law practice with a strong reputation in franchising and developed and led the franchise practices at a number of firms before becoming a consultant. In addition to Amy’s franchise expertise, Amy regularly advises employers in relation to both contentious and non-contentious employment matters. She has been described as a “safe pair of hands who protects her clients’ interests”.

EXAMPLES OF HER RECENT WORK INCLUDES

  • Securing interim injunctions in the High Court to prevent a franchisee trading in breach of post-termination restrictive covenants and requiring compliance with delivery up obligations.

  • Acting for a franchisee in a fraudulent misrepresentation claim and securing over £250,000 in compensation.

  • Negotiating a multi-unit franchisee’s exit from the franchise network with the ability to continue trading independently.

  • Successfully defending two franchise guarantors against bankruptcy proceedings arising from a failed franchise business.

  • Successfully resolving a franchise dispute for a franchisee alleged to have breached a number of provisions of their franchise agreement to include failing to devote full time and attention to their business.

  • Advising and negotiating the deal for a master franchisee who is taking a master license for a restaurant concept to six different countries.
